Stand High Patrol DJ Set
Reggae / Dub
After scouring the soundsystem sessions of France and England, ROOTYSTEP and MAC GYVER began collecting records and, in the early 2000s, decided to set up their own soundsystem. They were soon joined by PUPAJIM, who became the sound’s official MC, singer and composer. STAND HIGH PATROL learnt its trade in the bars of Rennes and Brittany, gradually moving towards English dub stepper productions and offering an innovative dub sound that shakes up conventions. 20 years later, the sound is recognized as a key player on the European dub scene. Carriers of a genuine identity and ambassadors of a unique style, the three “Dubadub Musketeers”, now accompanied by MERRY and his trumpet, are eagerly awaited on every new release and at every one of their appearances.
Over the years, STAND HIGH PATROL has developed a distinctive dub that incorporates a wide repertoire of personal influences. This style, dubbed “Dubadub” and driven by PUPAJIM’s vocals and an extensive palette of effects, is defined as a blend of dub, hip hop, bass music and digital reggae, sprinkled with trip hop, techno and new wave accents. Built on the model of hip hop beats, with lots of bass, kick and clap, “Dubadub” is a hybrid style that appeals to dub fans and electronic music enthusiasts alike.
In 2009, STAND HIGH PATROL set up its own label, STAND HIGH RECORDS.
